India Senior Community Think Tank

Purpose

The purpose we are trying to serve here or in terms of scientific method, the problem we are trying to identify and solve is:

How we can help people of Indian Origin to retire happily.

The happiness can be the outcome of meeting their individual needs and achieving their personal goals. The needs of a person who is retired or close to retirement is different than a person who is not. Their social needs are different. They need more health and medical support. Their satisfaction comes from meeting and socializing with persons of similar interests and common culture.

Challenge

When we look at Indian Americans, they have some unique retirement needs which have to be addressed to give them a happy retired life. These are mostly related to the culture, language, religion and food habits.

The Indian American population is a small percentage of the overall population and they are dispersed in many different geographical areas. Their children and grand children are also located in different places and many seniors would like to live close to their children. Hence we need to build a senior community which can address these requirements and yet be cost-effective.

Solution

Financials

This need is common for people irrespective of their financial status. Some people may be able to afford while others will need financial assistance. The project can thus be divided into two categories.

The first category can be funded by investors for profit and is for people who can afford to pay for the living quarters with amenities and services. The timing of the project would depend on the availability of funds from the investors and commitment from customers.

The second category is a non-profit project which can be funded partly by grants and aids from various government agencies and charitable institutions and partly from the profit generated by sale in the first category. This would also need support from philanthropists like you who would donate their time and money for a worthy cause. The timing of the project would depend on the availability of funds from the various charitable sources.
